I love your videos! Can you please make more AIP recipe videos?
Reply DeleteThanks! And I definitely want to - just need to get to be able to have a bit more endurance with standing and walking after my month on crutches (badly sprained ankle) - once i can I plan to!
Reply DeleteThis video was such good timing for me. I've been working on ways to spend less money on paleo. Our food budget ballooned last year when we went on paleo. Now our income has decreased so I've had to work on spending a lot less but still sticking to no grains and dairy because we feel so much better without them.
Reply DeleteI used to buy a lot of paleo or no grain snacks at the discount store. They were discounted but they still weren't the best deal. Now I just buy a huge bag of nuts and another of raisins. I ration those out so they last a few weeks. Those are our quick snacks along with bananas.
Sometimes I don't feel much like cooking. Instead of eating out I grab a rotissarie chicken at Sam's Club. It's like our junk food. Not entirely paleo because of the seasoning mix they use but a lot better than going totally off plan.
We do okay with white potatoes so we eat those as our filler along with cheaper veggies and a side of meat. We also eat a lot of bananas and apples because they are cheaper than other fruits.
Great video. I just started AIP because I battle lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis. Only been 2 .5 weeks and I am gradually feeling better and less pain. Meal planning will save you money. It really works for me even before when I was not on AIP. Thanx for sharing.😊
Reply DeleteYou’re so wrong on the price of meat! Why make meat a smaller part? Per pound, local pastured beef is just about the same price as fresh veggies. Per calorie, meat is quite a bit cheaper than veggies!
Reply DeleteMy deer tag costs $27 and provides almost 200 pounds of meat!
And even the regular store like Aldi often has chicken in sale for under $1/pound, you can’t get asparagus or even broccoli that cheap
oh wow, you definitely get meat a heck of a lot cheaper than I can. Sure, when you can hunt it makes a difference - that's a whole different ballgame. But when I go to my stores I can't get chicken (like organic, not pastured) for less than $7.99 a pound and organic (not grass-fed) ground beef for less than $8.99 a pound. Pastured stuff is way more - like $12.99 a pound. I want to come live where you do!
Reply DeleteYES, meal planning will save you a ton - especially from those impulse buys of stuff you don't need at the store! We spend SO much more when we don't plan.
Reply DeleteGreat tips! Thanks so much for sharing. I should do your nut and raisin tip for my kids - but I'd have to hide the bags from them or else they'd be gone in an afternoon 😂
Reply DeleteThanks for the suggestions
Reply Delete@Michele Spring so true. Aip consist of grass fed and pastured and this can get expensive!! But the meat thats loaded with all the bad stuff soooooo cheap! 1.99 for ground beef and chicken .39 cents a pound😯 .... prioritizing on my health. I'd rather pay for quality foods vs being in pain or on meds. I have cheated and felt the difference 🤷♀️
Reply DeleteMe here!!! I was so afraid I was the only one that was with the lupus not Hashimoto’s that seems to be the number one thing on YouTube instead of lupus. And it’s hard when I have kids to follow a meal plan
Reply DeleteAgreed I’m in Colorado and those are my meat prices. We don’t have an aldi either.
Reply DeleteLoved tip #5. I agree prioritizing high quality items is a biggie! That’s what I do. Thanks for the great video.
Reply DeleteGreat suggestions! This is such an important topic to discuss. I really enjoyed the video!
Reply DeleteSo happy to see a video from you! Really hope your ankle is healing. Take care!
Reply DeleteThanks for the suggestions.
Reply DeleteI was wondering if you could do a AIP week plan for when you don’t have much access to a full kitchen. Like microwave veggies, canned foods, etc.
Reply DeleteThanks Jeannette!
Reply DeleteThanks for watching!
Reply DeleteAw, thanks! And yeah, it's slowly getting there. I can "walk" now without a boot or crutches but not very far or on anything but flat surfaces, but getting there!
Reply DeleteThanks for watching!
Reply DeleteLove your realistic points of view!
Reply Deletejamie5mauser we really need to question how Aldi can sell their food so cheaply
Reply DeleteThanks :-)
Reply Deletesuperr
Reply DeleteThanks all sounds good 🥰
Reply DeleteExcellent advice :) Thanks!
Reply DeleteWish I could do it short term, so far I have only been able to put dairy in successfully and the yolk of an egg ... sometimes. Sometimes ... I can also have hummus. When I say sometimes I really mean sometimes once every few weeks... as I feel so much better I’m not complaining. I’m happy to be doing AIP !
Reply DeleteFor me Instant Pot has been a lifesaver!!
Reply Delete@Jenny Berger it's a struggle to follow meal planning PERIOD!! But it does work if you are starving and you have something ready to go for yourself. I understand that meal planning for family who do not follow your diet is a struggle too. I often feel like it is double duty, but then I have been feeling soooooo much better. So I think of that more. I just want to be free from pain and feeling crappy. Hugs and prayers to you.
Reply DeleteMiss Kelly Mac so sweet of you to be encouraging and helpful!
Reply Delete@Jenny Berger 💜
Reply DeleteGood advice. I used to eat lots of meat, and it was crazy expensive. Now I eat mostly veggies...However, I think buying organic and wild caught meats is very important. Conventional meats are loaded with antibiotics, hormones, pesticides and GMOs. Those things can really damage the gut and liver. I won't sacrifice my health for conventional meats.
Reply DeleteThank you Michele! These are great tips. If we aren’t diligent, our grocery bill is way too high. So thankful for practical advice on this. 💜
