Paleo Meal Planning :: 20 Dishes (Prep a Week of Meals in 60 Minutes)

hi guys I'm so excited to show you a sneak peek at the brand new dashboard that 20 dishes is launching for their members this is going to be launching in the very near future probably in the next few days to a week at the most we're really really excited about it because it is going to make managing your weekly meal plans your prep list your shopping list and everything so much easier so essentially you're going to have your own custom dashboards so when you log in you're going to see your pretty little dashboard with your menu your step-by-step prep your shopping list and your options over here so the cool thing about this plan on how this is laid out here is you can do a lot of adjusting you can add recipes you can add notes to your days and really customize what you want for your meal plan for the week so say you wanted to use this recipe for the crock pot roast and you want to actually do that on Wednesday you would just write it down throw it on Wednesday and it moves it down there say you wanted to come over here and you want to maybe add a new recipe in or add a note so you would just click on this little plus sign here and it's going to bring up the recipe section say you wanted to add maple chili chicken to that day you would just click on the plus sign to throw that into your menu so we'll just do that for a quick example and boom there you've got maple chicken chili and then say you want to make a note you would click on the plus sign again and go over here to add notes and say you wanted to make extra for leftovers you would just type in whatever your notes need to be here it could be pull the chicken out of the freezer or make extra for guests that I whatever your notes need to be you're going to click the add notes and that's going to put that in that day so you could go through and really customize your meal plan for the entire week so that you're organized everything is streamlined and it's going to save you a lot of time so we also have this step-by-step instructions which we have provided for all of the menus that 20 dishes creates but that's going to be on this own tab now and all of this stuff your meal plan your prep step-by-step prep your shopping list everything is printable with this print icon so you can just click on the printer and it'll print everything out all nice and pretty so you have your step-by-step instructions going to have your shopping list which is really cool too because we've added some features here where say you need to get four avocados that week maybe for some other recipes or just for snacks you would just type in the little boxes there and you can add whatever you need to add so you can go through here and really customize your shopping list so that you don't forget anything at the store because there's nothing more frustrating than going shopping getting the stuff for the week getting home and realizing that you've left a few things at the store that you completely forgot to get I hate doing that so you can go through here and customize anything that's on the pre-made shopping list and then if you have some stuff that's not on the list you can also add in your additional items here and all of this will print out whenever you print it off a little print icon and the last thing that's really cool is this option section so you can go through here and you can set the recipes say you have a really big family and you need all of the servings for our or you need all of the recipes to come out to 10 servings for every recipe you can easily adjust that or if you're a small family or maybe just cooking for yourself you can alter that down to you know just one or two or three servings so this is a really cool feature on also you have the ability here to choose which menus you see in your meal plan area so you can choose to see the paleo the AIP or the fodmap meal plans so that's another really cool feature that's going to help you really streamline your meal planning experience our whole goal with 20 dishes is to get you in and out of the kitchen as fast as possible so I can't wait for the sash board to roll out for all of our members it's going to be really really soon and I know it's going to make your life so much easier if you have any questions make sure you leave me a comment down below and let me know or you can always shoot me an email I would be happy to answer all of your questions but I'm super excited about this and I hope you are too I will talk to you again soon .

How To Diet Paleo Diet Made Easy Challenge!

it was a um Noah bond here to talk to you about the Paleo diet made easy so most of you guys are probably familiar with the Paleo diet has that funky eating protocol the cross fitters and barefoot runners do um but you don't really want to look into it for yourself because it's like a 300 page book and we want to take the time to read a 300 page book so what I'm going to do is condense it for you um just the meat and potatoes of it no pun intended to help you guys understand exactly what the paleo diets about how to apply it to your own lifestyle so basically in short um the Paleo diet is short for the Paleolithic diet referring to the diet of humans during the Paleolithic era and that basically refers to from the start of the human species all the way up until the advent of Agriculture what did humans eat and during that period um and the apology tells us that pretty much get the same for that entire period then invented agriculture and things changed like really really dramatically so the short and simple answer is that up and from about two and a half million years ago until about six thousand years ago humans pretty much only ate meat fruit vegetables eggs nuts and seeds that's it and those things are all in the human diet um still today so the emphasis of the Paleo diet really isn't so much on what you need to eat because you're already eating those things the emphasis of the Paleo diet is what you need to stop eating because we're even a lot of things right now in our diets um that are not they don't fall into any of those categories and which are detrimental to human health so basically the things that the Paleo diet identifies as um introduced within the last six thousand years that are not beneficial to the human diet are grains sugar dairy legumes partially hydrogenated vegetable oils salts artificial flavorings preserved of pesticides and alcohol so basically all of those things are new and our bodies haven't evolved to be able to process them very well so they kind of have a whole host of health problems but that was a pretty big list so like I said this is paleo diet made easy so what we're going to instead do is focus on the three things that you can cut out from your diet that will give you the biggest bang for your buck and get you started on the Paleo train the most those three things are grains sugars and dairy and what I recommend is how I got started on it is for the first week just cut out grains keeping everything else from died exactly the same but no grains no bread nor tortillas no rice no corn no quinoa no nothing no grains 100% out of your diet um and then after the first week you're going to be pretty comfortable with that then you cut sugars so then for week two you've got no grains and no sugars and then for week three you cut the dairy so the week three you're doing no grains no sugars in there so it's kind of like a little three-week challenge see how it feels for you um if at the end of those three weeks you're feeling better you're performing better you're looking better and you're recovering better which I would expect you're gonna you're going to be doing um then I would say it's about time you check out the Paleo diet the book the full the full deal or the other one I'd recommend is the primal blueprint by mark sisson and that one also includes a lot of paleo lifestyle in addition to diet things talks about sleep exercise all that good stuff so um yeah check those out try out my paleo diet made easy challenge cut the grains cut the sugar cut the dairy see how you feel thanks for watching .

Paleo Breakfast Bread Recipe

eating gluten-free doesn't mean you have to skip out on taste that is if you have the right recipe and the right cook I love this woman this is Alana Amsterdam and she is a gluten-free cookbook author you have two cookbooks out right now and we're going to be cooking something today from the Paleo diet that goes one step beyond that gluten-free and we're going to talk about that but Alana what are we going to be cooking today Joanna today we're going to make paleo breakfast bars a finished product they're delicious they're low glycemic high in protein we're starting with a bowl of almond butter high protein almond almond butter full of heart-healthy good fats adding some high protein eggs and we have to point out you actually do have a cookbook out there that's all about cooking with that almond flour I cook with almond butter what does that mean does it add more nutrition to your cook well first of all I think what's most important for any chef is that it tastes great and my husband and kids love it yeah second of all very high in protein and heart-healthy fats which I mentioned I also like to use coconut flour which is high in fiber I basically want to stay away from your traditional gluten-free flours like rice flour details our potato starch because those spike your blood sugar then leave you with that high carb hangover feeling what you really don't want to get out of Yui yeah and when you're eating a lot of the processed foods when you're doing the gluten-free diet that's really all that's out there right house so you're giving me an option yes if you hit the nail on the head those foods are highly processed I'm adding in pure vanilla and stevia which is a super low glycemic sweetener and that will just kick up the taste and flavor of the honey a little bit yeah then we're going to add in I'm cinnamon and I use an entire tablespoon of cinnamon and so good for you so good for you and that also helps with your glycemic index and stabilizes blood sugar and it also makes food a lot sweeter so I just try and spike things with cinnamon anytime I can't all that looks so yummy yeah this recipe for paleo breakfast bars is just has the perfect flavor with the cinnamon then we're going to add our salt and our baking soda okay and you keep mixing there I'm going to ask you a lot of people are probably asking themselves what is the Paleo diet it's gluten-free but as I said one step beyond so explain to us well the Paleo diet basically we haven't changed that much since Paleolithic times which is made man tais two and a half million years ago there were cavemen you and I basically have very similar genes to those cavemen however the diet that we're eating today is radically different and I believe in other people also believe that those of us who are going from Doctor to doctor with unrelenting undiagnosable health conditions who simply may not have the genes that adapt us to eat grains and greens are really new to our diets from where you were telling rates are very new the Agricultural Revolution which was one cereal grains were introduced was only ten thousand years ago we've been around 2.5 million years that's less than 1% of our existence Wow so the other thing I love about the Paleo diet and these kinds of recipes is you're not just getting rid of the grains which can be inflammatory and difficult to digest for people like myself I've been on the Paleo diet for about 11 years now you're also cutting out all those junky processed food right it's kind of fake food and you're even cutting out rice which was surprising yes I cut out rice potatoes corn beans so everything I'm eating is extremely nutritionally dense and high in protein and good fats so this is our batter and here's just another version of our batter and we're gonna put it into a pan Hey baking dish that I greased with coconut oil YUM which is a lovely oil that is very good for you and we're going to bake these and you have all of the recipes on your website yeah those up at the NS Dianna's Alana's pantry calm and you also have two great books we're gonna bring those up one of them is cupcakes free cupcake free cupcake and the other one is gluten free almond flour gluten free on the flour cookbook and you give some advice on how to find that almond flour right actually on my website Alana's pantry com I linked to all the challenging to find ingredients yeah so that you can just in the click of your mouse go straight to a place where you can purchase them I always select the highest-quality ingredients for the best prices okay I'm a dive into that's our finished product I can chase the cinnamon out I love it and she also brought me some cookies today I brought you some superfood cookie I'm not sharing those with my kids I'm just high-protein chocolate chip cookies made with dark chocolate and high protein almond flour dark chocolate is antioxidant rich genetic you know a health food well I just love all this I'm gonna take it to my party that I'm having this weekend great it's gonna be fabulous Thank You Alana thanks Jillian as I'm eating I'm gonna give you more information on her recipes and her menus and her cookbooks she has this awesome website it's Alana's pantry got to pronounce that right Alana's pantry dot-com and you're gonna get all the information you need right there .

How To Make Nom Nom Coco-Nutty Dark Bark (Persicope Video)

so for those of you who don't know me i'm michelle tan with mountain on paleo and today i'm gonna show you how to make my cocoa nutty dark bark which is the simplest candy that you can make for people with a paleo not really oh my god not on paleo read my journal message yes I I read all of these if I'm paying attention to the screen um so I had a few questions already one of the big questions is is this a paleo treat and the answer is no because there really is no such thing as a paleo treat but I do eat chocolate on occasion um probably more frequently than just occasionally um and I think this is a super easy treat to make for your friends um and it's tasty and it doesn't have a bunch of junk in there and so someone had asked what kind of chocolate I use I link to the chocolates that I use on my blog so I do have a post on nom nom paleo calm but what I'm using today is I have this 70% green and black dark chocolate and the reason why I'm using 70% because to people who don't normally paleo so it can't be super dark like if I were making it for myself I would totally use 85% or 91% because I like it less sweet what is the brand this is green and black I also like ultra eco I think Theo's makes great chocolate Maddock ass makes great chocolate you want to find something that's like Fairtrade and you know sourced from you know non-slave chocolates farm so I've already cut up a whole bunch here so in my recipe I put on some toasted unsweetened coconut flakes and I just toasted this my toaster oven over there give me 100 degrees I like to put it on affection because that way the hot air circulates if you don't have a convection I've been 300 is fine just toast it for five minutes this takes about four minutes um so you cut off like a minute and you like it so that it's nice and toasty on the edges you see that and coconut can burn in just a second so you do have to make sure that you're keeping an eye on it I have a quarter cup cranberries I just have this bigger bear stuff they have these organic dried cranberries it does have a little sugar in it but I'm not sad about it because we are making chocolate and it has sugar in it already I can also cook coconut flakes in a pan on so yes you could totally do that um I have burned it before though so you do have to watch it carefully I actually saw an America's Test Kitchen that you can toast coconut in the microwave I've never tried it but they said that it's a good alternative and you don't burn it and then I also have half a cup toasted and salted macadamia nuts and the key is I like these salted I know a lot of people may not like or thank you why why would you put salty nuts on it and it's because it tastes really good like the contrast the tangy cranberries the sweet chocolate and the salty nuts and you know crunchy coconut flakes is perfect so one of the tips again the step by step recipe is on my blog but I wanted to different squares I actually don't break it up in these squares because I don't think that it melts as well what I do I don't know if you guys can do this but I just cut it on the diagonal and I just make you really then I flip it and I do the other alright here is all my chocolate it's all shaved I'm gonna I love it because it also has like you know inches on the bottom I don't know if you guys can see that so whenever I'm doing a recipe I need to figure out how big my my chunks I just use this bowl scraper the scraper will scrape it right into your bowl and you have two choices on how you want to melt the chocolate you can melt it in the microwave I know some of you don't have microwaves or you don't like microwave I think microwaves are okay and they're perfectly fine for stuff like melting chocolate so I can tell you both ways you can do it alright so scooped up all the chocolate and it put it in a glass bowl because you want something that is either microwave safe or heat safe because you can either do it on a double well would this be considered dairy-free for those allergies uh I think so this is dairy free chocolate um and I don't have any other dairies in there so yes I'm not using milk chocolate I'm using dark chocolate and the chocolate I'm using has no dairy far as I know it doesn't but it does have soy lecithin so if you guys are against it away then you probably shouldn't pick this brand um and so the way that I melted I'm gonna show you really quick so right behind me I had with simmering water and you don't want the water to actually like reach up and touch the bottom of your bowl that you just slowly melt your chocolate or that like a double boiler or you can that's really fast Holly do you want to say hello to people while I microwave so they don't think it's boring no and then when I take it out I'm going to stir it really well yes it is much easier and faster and you don't have to wash next pot and so now I did that as a prop and now I have to wash that later which is kind of a pain um but basically this is the hardest part is just melting the chocolate and chopping it the way I did to show you guys before but otherwise the super simple rusty okay so the first 30 seconds doesn't really do too much um you can see the bottom is melted how sweet is it so this is a 70% a pound of 70% chocolate and that's because I'm gifting this to other people who are not paleo and 70% is as high as I can go with most people okay so I'm gonna stir this a little bit it's not super melted about melting chocolate is you never want to get water in there because it'll seize up so you just have to be careful not to get water in there you have to make sure it doesn't burn you just cut it up in Nice shards and you should be set I already have a baking pan set aside with some icing on top and then once everything is melted I'll just pour it on top and I will use a spatula to make it all smooth and then we just put the topping on and then we work for it and I'm breaking it up into 30-second intervals because you really can because the microwave doesn't really heat evenly you can totally burn parts of it and a little bit really does go from this day to life all melted by the next time okay so I only stove yes so that is the problem with microwaving chocolate is you could potentially burn it because every microwave has different you know wattages and the older ones are different from the new ones I missed the first part I am making yeah I can actually read your comment I am making my cocoa nutty dark bark that I put on the blog just now well thank you and actually it's super messy and I've put all the messy stuff on the floor where you guys can't see it and that is my you know my pressure cooker little piggy for dinner okay just keep stirring it almost done so normally I'd use 30 seconds times three and then I will do another 15 seconds and then I'll just do a lot of stirring afterwards and it should melt I love melted chocolate you like it all I don't know he doesn't like 70% it's too and it's actually too sweet for me I like I remember when I just think 65% was um too dark but now I like like 85 and 90% okay so I'm gonna just do it for 15 more seconds in terms of toppings the one that the three toppings I'm putting on this one are my favorite your bagel bacon burgers oh thank you that is one of our favorite recipes um I love toasted coconut salty macadamia nuts and cranberries but I don't like people don't like coconut or they like almonds so you can make some majid however you like and it'll work out so I'm gonna take but there is there's like the peppermint bark 35% knew it was delicious thank you did you do the slow cooker or the pressure cooker because I almost only do the pressure cooker version now because it's so dang easy and so fast and I think the texture is better just shredded coconut work also uh yes I think it's hard to buy unsweetened shredded coconut and it's hard to toast it so if you don't care that it won't be toasted or you can toaster you just have to be careful that you don't burn it and it's easier to burn I'm not supposed to bring a dessert for Christmas is here but I think though make this anyway you totally should bulk up here need to get the instant pot yet the ants the pot is amazing we use it like several times a day that might be a little unusual for most folks but I have to do a lot of recipe testing Twitter just had someone sweet that's great and that's where that's where I got almost everything like I bought my cranberries of Trader Joe's I bought my a meanness of Trader Joe's the baked coconut flakes I didn't get there I about this let's do organic coconut flakes Oh what is your job this is my job I used to be a drug dealer so was 30 times 3 and then I did an additional 15 seconds all laughing but it really was a drug dealer professionally I was drug dealer and I dealt drugs in the middle the night I did that for 12 years all right now I do pour it right into right onto the parchment and I like to kind of form it into like a rectangle but again you're gonna break this up and kind of uneven chunks so if it's not perfect it doesn't matter you see this and again as I said before this is super easy and super it's super easy and super customizable so you can customize the with the kind of chocolate you use you can use you know higher cacao chocolate you can use lower cacao chocolate you can top it with whatever you bonds and the reason why you see so many bark recipes all over the place is because it's so dang easy like you just saw right here so you just use a rubber spatula I don't know like between 1/8 and 1/4 inch it is the easier it will be for you to break if you have it to thicken parts you'll have to break out a knife to cut up your bark and I remember when I was a kid and my mom my mom is a really good Baker and she still is really good Baker every time she would use her spatula to like there's something very soothing and meditative that's probably why I'm not stopping all right that's good so you want to just use a rubber spatula you can use an offset spatula that's even better but then I'd have to wash something else and so I'm just gonna need to use the same rubber silicone spatula that I was using before the chocolate I'm not like you must spoon as my kids things I think it's my fav lat surface of melted chocolate my chest in the way you work and your kids crack me up did you hear that someone likes you better on the podcast why would you smash it alright so this I'm Justin now you just put the the toppings I like to put the coconut flakes on top I mean if you're gifting someone you know you want to make sure that you have like the nice make of coconut flakes and not the stuff at the very bottom that's all powdery because it looks prettier but I think the people I'm gifting this to don't really care put it on top and if there are some that aren't actually in the top plate you just kind of push it down says no we don't you're real you're a real boy right Holly that is coconut I'm gonna put in these salted macadamia nuts and these I like have like there's a whole one but I'm just not gonna break out a knife for that but the Habs I think fit really well they're really pretty and I I just stop them all over the place just throwing them and then sometimes if you throw up and they like get all brown and I think it looks prettier if it's the toppings were just on top okay cannot see all your comments so if you see me you like looking down and I miss your question and you really want to ask me make sure my hands were so looking so lean I am not that lean but thank you um I'm working with my trainer once a week and like today I went to the gym my big goal is to get an unassisted pull and I have an unassisted chin up but I kind of jellyfish at the very top so it's not I don't think it's an actual chin up but I'm working on it and then eventually I'll have it with the overhand grip and that is my goal by tomorrow yes oh and the way I figured out how I would be motivated to keep on you know trying to get my pullet is that I came up with a negative consequence and I learned that from Steve cams new book you know if nerd Fitness he said the only way that really that you'll be motivated to actually reach a bowl is you have a bad consequence that will happen if you don't do it and so I figured one out and I've been practicing cuz I don't want to tap in I need people to work and medical studies honey and lemon Oh is someone sick I'm assuming that's why those comments are so I'm just gonna then I dotted with cranberries cherries are also great apricot is a traditional french fried apricot is a traditional topping for french chocolate bark I like to drop this yeah pistachios and dried cranberries I think are a great combination I really like um coconut and macadamia nuts how long does the chocolate stay melted for um depends how cold your house is um but it you know it's still totally melted I some people they'll harden in about two hours depending on how how cold your house is I pop this in the fridge for 30 minutes to harden completely before I break it and then I actually I have one that I'll show you that I made yesterday and I just kept it in the fridge alright so here it is again the proportions are 1 cup of toasted coconut flakes 1/2 cup of macadamia nuts and then like a quarter cup of dried cranberries here is the finished product this isn't what I made yesterday and so you can either just break it up with your hand and if you do that just make sure your hands are covered by the person you don't want all your fingerprints on here unless you're eating it yourself and then nobody cares I have not mailed them before just because I'm never sure if it'll melt or you know sometimes especially during the Christmas season you know thanks get jostled around I'm trying to send a package to a little girl in the UK and I was supposed to have gotten there by December 4th but when I was looking at the tracking it went from like the Scoob area to LA and I guess on a plane to the UK and then instead of going in like you know a mail van or whatever in the UK it went back on a plane to Portland and so now it's back to LA and it's floaty thing okay again so if that's what happens with that little package I would hate to see what would happen to the candy you're sending okay so basically I just kind of stick a knife and jagged pieces whatever you want to do now I'm just using the same knife that I cut the chocolate with so I don't have to wash another one I basically just and about 1 pound I think will make about 4 generous gifts give them you give your friend the whole pound if you want and so this is all ready I'll show you guys it's delicious it's easy and you can package it here I'll show you how I attacked it this these are some these are called little Baker bags you can buy I went to one on my blog post they're lined inside Henry actually created some really cool stickers that you guys can print out does this need to be refrigerated yes I think so because like right now I think it's around 65 inch or 70 and it's already kind of melty so I refrigerated I'm eating it myself I will put it in like a sealed container and I'll refrigerate it for up to a week means I'm going to distribute like right after I'm done and then I will tell my friends put them in the fridge if they don't eat them Suvir here are two labels and you can download and print from my site they say nom nom Coco nutty dark bark and so this one is the one you use if you actually use the labels that are the two and a half inch circles because it's printed a little bit over so that you know for sure run read all the way to the edge but if you're just gonna print them out and cut them out yourself then this is the one you should use and it's clearly labeled as such in my post so just you know there are two different labels depending on how you're gonna cut them out and that is it um super easy peasy and you should totally make these for your friends so I hope you guys have a happy Wednesday any last questions before I sign off No thank you for the hearts and that adios people .

Video Description:

Good afternoon!!! This is Dan from Primal4Life showing you the path to Paleo, with Julian Bakery Paleo Bread™ tagging along for the ride to healthy-town. Wanting to use up the remainder of my arctic char in a tasty manner, I decided to make a salad out of it. Sweet and spicy came to mind... Recently we used Paleo Powder on a grass-fed steak, and it really enhanced the flavors of the steak! Today I wondered how I could bring it to life with this lunch. Spicy croutons! But not any croutons, these are croutons made from the healthiest stuff on the planet. Almonds! Did you know that cinnamon-glazed almonds were President Clinton's snack of choice at both the 1993 and the 1997 inaugurations? Well, if these spicy croutons were around back then I think he would have changed his preferred snack!
This salad has a quite a variety of flavors, colors and nutrients. Kale and spinach speak for themselves, but what does fermented ginger carrots have? Fermentation... Good bacteria... It's alive! We all need good bacteria, and what's in fermented foods helps us out tremendously. Our gut, our immune system, fighting off Candida, the list goes on and on. Next up are plantain slices with cinnamon. Yum! And, cinnamon helps with blood sugar stabilization, just like Paleo Bread. The lack of wheat, which can spike blood sugar more than candy, is key here folks... Do not underestimate the power of the almond (or coconut)! Finally we have olive oil, coconut oil, all good stuff that give this meal that extra flavor (and nutrition) we all want.
Ingredients:
• 1 slices of Paleo Bread™ -- Coconut or Almond

• Fish (your choice!)
• ½ Plantain
• Cinnamon to sprinkle on plantains
• Coconut oil
• Olive oil
• Paleo Powder to sprinkle on Paleo Bread™

• Handful of spinach
• Handful of kale
• 2 tablespoons fermented ginger carrots
• Salt & Pepper
• Apple cider vinegar
Directions:
1) Slice plantain and place in frying pan with coconut oil
2) Sprinkle cinnamon on plantain slices
3) Place fish in frying pan with coconut (or olive) oil, being careful to turn when ready.
4) Salt and pepper fish to your liking.
5) Insert Paleo Bread™ -- Coconut or Almond into toaster oven for 5 minutes.
6) Wash and rinse spinach and kale, place in large bowl.
7) Remove bread from toaster oven after 5 minutes, lightly coat both sides with olive oil and Paleo Powder.
8) Put bread back in toaster oven for 10 minutes to toast well.
9) Flip/check plantain slices, add more cinnamon if needed.
10) When toast, plantains and fish are complete, add them to your salad along with ginger carrots.
11) Finish salad off with salt, pepper, olive oil and apple cider vinegar.
Prep Time:
• 5 minutes
Cook Time:
• 20 minutes
Serves:
• 1
The croutons were crucial; it gave the salad a nice crunch which I haven't experienced in years. Yes, I was a croutaholic, but learned my lesson and steered clear of them for health reasons. Now, I can enjoy them once again. This time, with a Paleo-KICK! The Paleo Powder really brought this recipe a spice that it needed. Sweet and spicy, healthy and delicious, Paleo Bread and Primal4Life. They all go hand in hand...
To buy your Paleo Powder, just go to www.JulianBakery.com !!! And while you are there, make sure you stock up on Paleo Macaroons, I just wouldn't combine the two cause that would be silly! But if you do, let me know how it works! 

Video Description:

Hey folks, this is Dan from Primal4Life coming at you with yet another tasty meal. This here is the "Grilled steak and goat cheese". This is not your typical Philly steak and cheese, but a much healthier version! To simplify things, I used leftovers. In my honest opinion, leftovers make some of the best meals and save you a ton of time. The steak, which is an "Eye of the round", was last night's dinner. Building from there, I asked myself what I could do to make this eye of the round that much better. Normally I am all about meat and veggies. But sometimes you have to stray, and add to the plate for more taste. I also had the craving for a grilled-cheese (Diary is discretionary when it comes to the Paleo/Primal community, if you can handle it, go for it). Well, I decided to go with it, out come some healthy ingredients from the fridge, and on goes the gas burner with a frying pan and some butter!

Ingredients:

2 slices coconut Paleo Bread™ (1 Impact Carb w/ 5g Of Protein & Fiber Per Slice)

1 4-6 oz piece of organic grass-fed steak (your choice)

1 slice goat cheese

1 thick slice of tomato

¼ cup sauerkraut

1 handful of spinach leaves

Salt & Pepper to taste

Butter (preferably from Grass-Fed cows, coconut oil could be used in place of butter).

Directions:

1) Toast Paleo Bread to defrost. I personally broil the slices for about 3 minutes on high in my toaster oven. You can also add leftover steak to toaster oven, or slightly nuke it. If you are going to cook a fresh piece of steak, I would do that first and add a few minutes to prep/cook time.

2) While defrosting bread, warm up frying pan with butter (or coconut oil).

3) When fully toasted, transfer Paleo Bread to frying pan. Salt & pepper wherever you desire during this step.

4) Add spinach, steak, goat cheese, sauerkraut, tomato, and second slice of Paleo Bread

5) Let sandwich sit for a couple minutes

6) Flip to other slice, and allow to sit for another couple minutes, or until bread is cooked to your liking.

7) Remove from pan carefully, as the bread will be hot, and enjoy.

Prep Time:

5 minute (more if you are going are grilling/cooking a fresh piece of beef).
Cook Time:

10 minutes
Serves:

1
This was a delicious grilled steak and cheese; sorry it offends anyone in the Philly area.... But this is a much healthier version and you know it! With Julian Bakery's Paleo Bread and the lack of a blood-sugar spike, quality grass-fed beef, delicious goat cheese, nutrient rich spinach, and probiotic rich sauerkraut, Philly's steak and cheese sandwiches never had a chance in the health department. Plus, I still feel good afterwards. )

Hopefully you agree with me, and feel that this nutritious and delicious sandwich is here to stay.

Thank you,

Dan /

Spicy Tuna Cakes

hey it's a Michelle tan from nom nom paleo and today I'm gonna show you an oldie but goodie from the blog and from our first cookbook nom nom paleo food for humans it's my spicy tuna cakes when you listen to the ingredients there's sweet potato jalapeno and tuna you're like what but it really is amazing they're these delicious portable sweet and savory snack so you can take with you on the road first things first you want to preheat the oven to 350 degrees and then you grab a 12-cup muffin tin so what I have here is just two cans of albacore tuna no oil or anything um because I'm gonna add some ghee later and the reason why I asked for no oil is because I like to control the type of oil and how much is in there you don't have to use albacore tuna you can use salmon people use chicken kind of whatever you want scallions cilantro and this here is a mashed cooked sweet potato or yam and you can bake it you can microwave it however you want to cook it I actually just kind of like doing the fall with my hands cuz I just want to kind of gingerly mix it all together and you don't want to break up the fish now I'm gonna zest some lemon zest make sure you don't go you just get the very top yellow part instead of the bitter wipped pit and then I'm gonna add two eggs and I'm super lazy and I don't want to clean another Bowl so that's why I'm not whisking them first I'm gonna throw in some jalapeno and then I like a little bit extra spice so I had a little bit of red pepper flakes this is melted ghee because otherwise this is fat-free and I don't want a fat-free spicy tuna cakes and then I add one in half teaspoons of diamond crystal kosher salt because I've made this so many times I know this is the right amount but if you're not sure you should mix it all up and then fry a tiny patty just to taste for seasoning and then you can adjust it as needed I'm just gonna go in with my hands and you want to make sure the egg gets incorporated everywhere but you're not smashing up the tuna I like having chunks of tuna in there just kids I think it tastes better cuz I like like this I like it that there are pieces of tuna still in here I think it just tastes better so now we're gonna scoop this into a muffin tin I like to use an ice cream scoop to scoop them in and this is about a quarter cup and you just take it and then you put it in each one and then use the back of it to press down and I know people have told me that they have just taken this batter and just fried it but I think that's too much work it's a lot easier if you just put them all and bake them in the oven and you don't want to fill them more than like three-quarters high I mean it's not like they rise or anything it's just that way I've done it so many times that I know that that you can get twelve out of it so this I'm gonna stick in the oven 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes and then I'm gonna rotate it halfway through the cooking time but they're done when a toothpick goes through the center and comes out clean I know it throws people off because they see them in these little cupcake liners but that is so won't stick to your cupcake tin and if you would rather them not look like little cupcakes that's fine too then you're gonna be scrubbing a long time voila spicy tuna cakes they'll make everybody happy .

Video Description:

These portable spicy tuna cakes are savory treat with a hint of sweetness and a wickedly peppery bite that sneaks up on you. Serve these spicy cakes for breakfast, lunch, or dinner—or whip up an extra-big batch for your next dinner party!

PALEO PANTRY + FRIDGE TOUR, IHERB HAUL | VLOG

good morning guys welcome back to our Channel so today it's starting off a little bit differently so it is just me this morning I'll actually be heading over to Beck's in just a little bit but as an update last Thursday me and my boyfriend actually moved out of home so we are in a new apartment at the moment so that is super exciting it's also been a little bit exhausting and kind of the reason why I've been like a little bit m.i.a but to get start with this blog I'm actually just going to make a smoothie for breakfast I think and I thought I'd also show you guys like a little pantry and fridge tour of a new place so we haven't got everything yet but that might just be a little bit of fun to see like how I setting everything up so now that we're in this new place we are literally so close to back she is like a ferry ride away so like I don't know 15 minutes away where I was living before it would take about 40 minutes to an hour just to drive sub X in traffic so this should be really fun and really exciting being so closer I'll take you guys along with me today so before I head up the back I thought I would do a really quick fridge and pantry tour so just showing you guys kind of what we've got going on at the moment so maybe you'll start with the pantry so I don't know what the best way to do this will be there on our first shelf so here I've got all of my supplements or we're going through like all of the supplements individually number one because like there's a lot of them and number two because I kind of feel like I don't know I don't know if it's like bad to show you guys what I take like just because I'm taking these like you guys shouldn't be taking the exact same stuff but anyway so some of they're just like basic basic ones that I'm taking at the moment so digestive enzymes some betaine HCL that I've got a few other herbal supplements some cod liver oil magnesium like a bunch of other stuff in the back there as you can tell so then over on the second shelf I've got a spices so we've got some of these lovely organic ones so we've got some olive oil and some coconut oil so those are the two oils that we use primarily we've also got some other little seasonings so like the mingle seasoning this one is basically just a spice mix so it's super plain doesn't have any added nasty stuff so great if you're doing paleo and you want something like a little bit different you can also definitely make these at home you don't have to splurge on like extra items like this I've from that in the back here we've got the Australian honey you guys have been watching our videos for any length of time although that we generally use honey or stevia to sweeten thank you we also have another great little seasoning that you can add to stir-fries or wilted vegetables or even like use in salad dressing so it technically this is like an aged coconut nectar so it is paleo approved and it works is kind of like a good soy sauce substitute like it's not as salty but it still adds like an interesting flavor and then right in the back here we have some Sarah weaves olives all the time in our salads and we also have some tins of coconut cream which are really handy for doing like little curries and things and then we also have some 10-7 so we always use Tim salmon who am i doing el salads and it's just a really easy protein to have on hand so on the next shelf we have our tea supply so one that we really like Bex talked about it before as well is this Tulsi cleanse one it's quite bitter but it kind of like emulates coffee in a way because it's a bit off I also have this one the high living organic golden Chi Muroc tea that one's really nice have cinnamon tea as well the krish is another favorite and some green tea and also have this huge pack of green tea as well so we actually use this one for making kombucha so it's like a bulk pack of green tea otherwise in this cupboard we have got some coffee instant coffee so this one is organic I don't really drink coffee at the moment but if we have guests over or whatever it's just good to have some coffee on hand I've got some much in here this one I don't find it is a great drinking quality matcha but it should still be good for cooking so I'm gonna keep that as well and then of course we've got our Great Lakes collagen peptides use them all the time in smoothie well in smoothies and soups and pretty much any liquid so that dissolves into your liquid and it doesn't really have any flavor so it's flavorless and it's really really good for your gut health and then I also have just a few jars of like little extras so here we've got some activated bikinis so they're from loving earth and then also some black chia seeds and then right at the back we've got our four cow powder and that's pretty much it at the moment at the very bottom I have some sweet potatoes and some red onions that's pretty much oh I don't have a lot of like baking stuff at the moment as you can tell but we don't really do a lot of baking and I feel like it's just something that will kind of acquire over time so that is our pantry the extra things that we kind of be included in a typical like paleo pantry it would be like your almond flour tapioca flour and maybe some potato starch you could also have like nut butters and things like that but I don't keep nut butters in the house because you guys know that if I have nut butter I will like eat it all like within a few days like with the spoon out of the job it's just like too tempting so and don't bring any of that stuff into the house okay it's not that exciting but inside the fridge let's just go from the top I guess and hope that the fridge doesn't beep at me so at the top here we've got some chicken and I've got some beef so this is e cleavers myths so we actually planned out all of our meals for the next couple of days so everything's kind of like specific for a recipe I'm also actually got my lunch up here so down here we've got some eggs so we actually bought these from the market so they say free-range but these eggs are like from a guy who has chickens in his backyard so they're basically like a postured chicken and then over here I actually have a huge batch of salad so this is the Vietnamese salad from easy paleo meal prep ebook so I make up like a huge batch because if you guys have ever used one book before it makes like so much volume so I've got that for lunch as well but yeah felt like this huge huge batch of salad that we're gonna be eating over the next like three days for lunch and dinner so that one is really great for kind of making in bulk for the week then over here we actually have something really special a spaghetti squash I've never actually used a spaghetti squash ever but we found this one in Kohl's and I'm like really excited I know that in America this is like really common but you hardly ever find spaghetti squash in Australia so we're gonna try cooking with that this week then down here actually have some broccolini just sitting on its own and some avocado so this is generally actually how I store avocados like face down on a plate so that this side doesn't like oxidize or anything got more of a Vietnamese salad over here then I brought like a tiny bit of salad dressing so it's we like to make our little dressings in a jar that you can just shake it up and pour it over the top super-easy we've got some mushrooms I think that feels like some pumpkin we've got carrots I've got mangoes because mangoes are in season and we've got some of the markets and then down in the drawers we have got some organic little leaves so leaves are one of those things that are highly sprayed so we try to always buy that organic as we can also got a few little beet roots which are cooked and ready to eat so it is really great for topping salad and then over here I
've got a roughly got some zucchini I like capsicum that's just like living free every year I turn up and smell pumpkin so that's kind of this part of the fridge and then over here on the shelves I've got more supplements over here so all my probiotics and some cod liver oil and things like that and we've also got our geese Oh gears great for cooking with and some of the meadow and Mary bone broth concentrate so this one is super handy if you don't have time to make bone broth at home you can just add a teaspoon to your mug and add in some hot water and that's literally all you have to do then down here we actually have our nuts so we're storing our nuts in the fridge because not to one of those things that oxidize really easy so because they're high in polyunsaturated fatty acids they oxidize they can go rancid so it's really best to actually store your nuts in the fridge so we've got macadamias we've got cashews and we've also got some Brazil nuts so I kind of see Brazil nuts as like taking a daily vitamin tablet so they're really high in selenium so only it is like two a day and you're good to go and then over here we have our favorite sauerkraut so this is the Kehoe's kitchen sauerkraut we pretty much put sauerkraut on everything because it's great for your gut health and then over here we have our chocolate stash so we've got some of the loving earth chocolate as a bit of a treat and we have some of the 90% Lindt chocolate and then down the bottom we just have some coconut milk so I don't boys use coconut milk often in smoothies I'll just use water but sometimes it's nice to have something a bit different and then over here as a treat we actually have some kombucha so this is the one from lobe rose and it's like a favorite one at the moment so the flavor is peach and ginger and the relatively low in sugar so if you guys are looking for some you compete you to try try this brand so that is pretty much everything in our pantry and a fridge from the moment so again there's like a few things that I think is still missing but I'm gonna be heading to Beck's we're really shortly so I'll bring you along with me okay guys hi I am at Beck's now so we are going to be working on a few things I think I'm gonna edit the podcast fest and it's a long one too so if we take a bit of time like an hour long so we'll see what it cuts down to once we edit out like Bonnie chirping in the background yeah this one was about a green beauty and we just talked for ages about like different run ups as well towards the end so I think that's why there's nothing so on if you can hear in the background I've also got the washing machine going also like just responding to emails and things this morning so kind of just like some admin pretty standard day so we are going to just have fun with it so the podcast is just exporting so that should be up shortly but I'm just gonna have some lunch now so this is actually what I had in the fridge this morning so this is actually the Vietnamese salad from our easy paleo meal prep ebook just got a container full of that and have popped in some chicken as well so I'm gonna tuck into this okay and I'm just putting together a really simple salad you guys have probably seen this salad like hundred times so I'm just doing some salad greens that I spin in this mini salad spinner the one that I like to get is from Woolies if you're here in Australia it's the organic gourmet salad mix and I'm just going to do it with a little bit of tin tuna and I think some other salad bits that I'll find in the fridge so tomato cucumber all that good stuff and then I also like to just dress it with some apple cider vinegar and olive oil so I'll show you what I come up with but I'm kind of feeling like I need to start meal prepping again this year because I'm getting a little tired of the canned fish okay so this is the final salad so it's pretty low carb today I haven't got cops going on here but I'll include that in dinner and I also had a big banana protein smoothie this morning so I've just added some cucumber tomato and some pumpkin seeds dressing and the seven okay guys Amy's actually just left it's around 6 p.m. so I've been working all afternoon and I've just gotten a little delivery from iHerb so I heard there's a place that I like to or Amy and I both liked to shop for all of our except comments and different bits and pieces so the thing I am most excited about in this delivery is I've got the bone broth protein so here is the box so I'm going to open this up so as you can see I only picked up a few things but this here is the bone broth protein which I'm really excited to try it's meant to be a really good gut friendly protein and it's taken from chicken broth so I'm gonna try this out I just got the vanilla flavor because I do like to add my own cacao because I have a really good quality one at home already for smoothies and things like that and then I also picked up a little cocoa butter with over oil my skin has just been a little bit dry lately so I wanted to pick up something really plain so I grab this and I wanted to top up on my collagen peptides again so I grabbed the one from Great Lakes I also really like the one from buy the proteins but I just tend to buy whichever one is going for a better price at the time because I find them to be the same in terms of the product quality so yeah I topped up on another one of these which I like to add to smoothies again as well but I usually add it to teas and other like hot drinks so that is my mini mini haul morning guys so it is day two of the vlog and today I'm actually going to go and work at Amy's place so as you can see she is not here and Amy has just moved into her new apartment which is right across the river from me so this is going to be fun I'm going to go for a little walk and luckily it's not far to walk because I feel like I'm weighed down like a pack horse I've got my bag filled with my laptop and our podcast recording gear because we will be doing podcasts today hopefully and yes so this morning I just got up and I did a little yoga routine something really nice and chill and then I had a smoothie so I tried out the bone broth protein which actually tasted really good so that was exciting I really love trying new products so I did that and yeah just got ready for the day so I am going to head off and hopefully this trip and walking to Amy's only takes like 15 minutes or so but this is the first time I'm doing it so I'll see how we go hello I'm late I missed the ferry that I was hoping to get onto oh I'm so sweaty look at me now I was late because I just realized before I left that I turned off the Wi-Fi box at home hmm and James was using it to update the PlayStation oh and he was like really looking forward to playing his new game oh did you like get out the dirt to go back no I didn't get out the door but then I was like I know I turned that off and he was like doing this big update that was gonna take all day so I had to like get in there and log into his account and figure out the update I was like I just missed the ferry so door to door it's been like half an hour 15 oh you know okay so we are heading out for lunch you plays yes so which ekang out the places nearby Amy so I think it's called milk unko yes so it's called milk and code and we saw a few good things on menu at all very free options there so let's try it out you're gonna get the bacon burgers off I think so all righty so we are back and Amy is stuck we've got keys in the door it always gets how was lunch lunch is good so discovered one place it has lots of good acai bowls too so if you want sigh ball he's struggling so back to work okay so we just wrapped up a sowed of the podcast so this one was all about the signs and symptoms of poor gut health so that one will be up over the weeken
d go edit it and then that'll be all otherwise that's kind of like us done for the day I think I believe pretty cooped that one we spoke for like an hour it's kind of like intense just talking for so long but favorite topics so we just like blabbering about it all day until we like yeah so I guess we'll wrap up vlog here hope that you guys enjoyed this one let us know in the comments below what you're thinking on the blog so far this year we're going to jump do some washed it down videos as well so don't panic if you feel like I'm not doing any topical videos they're coming and probably some recipes coming up shortly as well but we will see you guys in our next video depending on what kind of video that it is we hope you guys enjoy the comment below like this video and don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already and we'll see you later on okay .
