good trout what I do is that I hold the salt in my left hand put the knife tip of the knife into the our soul of the fish make a cut all the way up to the top and then I pull out the guts like this free the gills from the front of the flesh there and take out the kidneys which stick to the background that's it when I rinse them when I've gone all of them in the end we usually have two main fishing season control one is in the spring this year we caught about 1,250 so far second season is in autumn during spawning the rest of the year we'll just fish a little for everyday use the fur story drawing etc it's these seasons that provide enough to have a have a surplus sometimes the parasites they were way too long they go out into the flesh like this and then I'll just chuckle since the leaks here are grossly overpopulated there is a problem with parasites which is also one of the reasons why we are fishing as much as we are to try to reduce the population and we have been successful in increasing the quality quite substantially over the last couple years you you a lot of blood and gore later that's the last fish I just had to rinse them our ok cooking or drawing or whatever i'm going to do drug fish makes an excellent bread substitute in a Bailey o'doyle's the fish doesn't have to be clean the prompt or clean afterwards was done is that simply cooked along the spine from one side and / the fish boy this sometimes I dry them with the head song sometimes without the heads they spoil a little bit easier so for long term storage just told ahead these are just lost from the back of the fish rather than trying to slice from the bella thorne you the spring is quite quite nice when it comes to drawing fish because you don't have to use smoke it makes it less work than in the summer and often also the dry air makes it dry out faster than normally I estimate three to four days and it will come be completely drawn it's been involved for days now I've been hanging here to draw pretty much bone drawing or at least packable so I'm going to pack them in a cloth bag can use paper or buckskin or whatever just don't use plastic or something like that for longer-term storage Bulls have the drawing get all crunchy i'm going to show you our deepest just break the skin off pull off the flesh and chunks and then you eat it is kind of dry and Larry fishing so it's much better hello dr. Morse O'Connell what makes it a pretty excellent bread substitute lots of calcium in this because of the balls alright guys see you later and go out there and catch your own paleo breakfast .

Reply Deletehave never see that befor, thanks

I miss your videos. Well done and welcome back.
Reply Delete+mewolf1 Thanks! More will be coming up although the posting might be erratic at first.
Reply Delete+hobbexp Thanks!
Reply DeletePractical Wildman, thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. I've been looking for a video like this for a long time. Please share more!
Reply DeleteNice video. You were throwing some away due to parasites, is there any concern of parasites being in the dried fish?
Reply DeleteLove dried fish as it is a part of my heritage and butter makes it so much better. We mostly eat cod, but also haddock and wolffish, is the taste like one of those?
Reply DeleteHey, I have only tried dried cod out of the ones you mention. It tastes
Reply Deletequite similar to cod I suppose, but less salty and less chewy.
I haven't really had any trouble with parasites in the actual dried fish, but occasionally there are lumps under the skin, containing parasites, but this is readily seen or felt. I always discard those. As long as you are able to remove the parasites along with the guts, it is unlikely that you will catch them yourself.
Reply DeleteThanks for the compliments, I do some video editing videos every now and then. But usually there is too much to do outside. :)

Reply DeleteI have a pond I fish and 2 types of fish are prone to have yellow grub like parasites, I cut them out before cooking. I'll be avoiding those 2 types of fish for this project.
Thanks for the reply.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I look forward to trying this for myself soon.
Reply DeleteLove your videos! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Reply DeleteI'd have to cook mine with broth, considering I have no teeth. hahaha But the drying fish for later is a champion idea.
